Los reos de la prisión «Playa Manteca» denuncian que esta prisión se encuentra infestada en un 85 % de su población penal con el COVID_19. Cuando los prisioneros llaman a sus familiares e intentan denunciar el abandono y la crisis que mantiene el sistema penitenciario sobre los reos en general, son interrumpidas las llamadas telefónicas desde la pizarra central dentro de la misma prisión.
Los familiares temen por la vida de los reos, pues llevan más de un año sin contacto visual con los reclusos, como medida preventiva para evitar el contagio dentro de la prisión, pero es justamente el personal que trabaja en estos centros penales, quienes contagian a los prisioneros. Además, quienes se encuentran confinados, cuentan con una alimentación deficiente e insana y por si esto fuera poco, este centro penitenciario, como muchos otros en la isla, no tiene medicamentos para tratar las dolencias de los prisioneros, los cuales son atendidos con hierbas medicinales, por la falta de medicinas a la que el régimen somete a todo el pueblo de Cuba.
De qué sirve que a nivel nacional los reclusos pasen más de un año sin tener ningún contacto con sus familiares, ni siquiera a la distancia del cordón de seguridad, si son contagiados por los carceleros y el personal sanitario dentro de las prisiones? Qué estrategia está elaborando el sistema de cárceles y prisiones del país, para que aunque sea a 4 metros de distancia, los familiares puendan ver a los suyos en las prisiones, aunque hablen por teléfono tras un cristal o acrílico? De cuánto tiempo requiere la dictadura cubana para reconocer e implementar un derecho inherente a la población penal? #SOSCuba
